Zeidlerei Profession
Who knew this was all about the bees?
The name "Zeidler / Zeitler" comes from an old German word, ‘zeideln’ meaning to cut honey(comb). They were in charge of honey gathering and documented from 959 onwards. I even found a coat of arms for them! See the new Zeidlerei Page

hello!
first, excuse my bad english, please. my name is henry zeitler and i’m from germany. accidentally i found your site and i’m very pleased to read about my family. i’m very interested in genealogy too and i have an aunt who found out a lot about our line. maybe i can get the name of an earlier family member to compare it with your described lines.
further, i searched the german wikipedia for the ancient zeitler profession and here’s what i found (sorry, it’s in german):
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeitler
It’s quite similar to your description but with a bit more details.
with many greetings,

Hallo, I am Monika from Cologne/ Germany. I found your genetic resultats in Family Tree DNA but my mail can´t arrive you. Now I found this beautiful and very interessting homepage.
Sorry for my bad English, but I try zu write:
My mtDNA result ist like yours in both groups. You can see it in mitosearch under KNFCA.
I know only a litte from my mothers family. But my grandmother was a “Schneider”.
The Schneiders lived in Germany, Kaiserslautern. Kaiserslautern was former Bavaria, today it is Rheinland-Pfalz.
Maybe there are mutual ancestors?
In a document I found a registration to Jakob Schneider (1850-1913):
civil rights: Art. 30 Abs. 10 d….. (I can´t read ist). Nobody can say exactly, what this means.
Perhaps I find still tips at your homepage.
Yours sincerely,
Monika
